Adventures in Bookmaking

 Our First Two Projects

The Sixth Grade just returned from Science Camp. They went on a night hike and collected images from it. They made poems from the images and constructed the leaf origami books to hold the poems. The dark colors of the leaves were chosen to mimic the colors they saw on the night hikes.

In history the students read some books about Paleolithic life and made concertina book reports. They made rawhide ties and used wooden beads to finish off the books.

The students are very enthusiastic about book making! I've noticed the same phenomenon that I saw when we were publishing to the Internet. They love a new format for their writing, and when I added the news that the book reports would go up on the Internet, they became very intent on doing their best. If their Pop-up Prepostion books come out well, I'll post them, too.
