Mrs. Lee's Sixth Grade

Poetry Unit

Group Work

Back to Main Page

Each week your group is responsible for finding a poem that is an example of one of the types of poetry we've read or a poem that exhibits one of the poetic devices we have explored during the unit. This poem should be typed out (in a big enough font to be seen from the back of the room) and mounted on a trifold presentation board. The poem should be made in to a storyboard with the poetic devices and any unfamiliar vocabulary color coded and explained.

Example of Storyboarded Poem

Each group member is responsible for recasting or copy changing the poem into another form from the list. You may use text (short story, script), drama (skit, frozen tableaus, puppet show), art (picture, water color, mobile, collage), or any combination (complete list of acceptable forms). You may NOT repeat a form. The recast forms should be mounted on the trifold form (if you have chosen a dramatic form, the script should be mounted. Art that won't mount should be placed in front of your board.) Your group will present your poem and the recast forms to the class during our Friday Coffeehouse.
